The
Gap of Dunloe and McGillycuddy Reeks Heritage, Arts & Information
Centre
Heritage in all it’s meaning lies
at the heart of The Dún Lugh Project.
Converted from existing barns, an Auditorium/Theatre will allow a variety
of powerful interpretations that will honour the natural
and cultural
histories of the Gap of Dunloe, McGillycuddy Reeks, Killarney National
Park and surrounding region of the South West;
the geology, glaciology,
woodlands,
flora, fauna, ornithology, etc through to the human imprint on the
landscape; the archaeology
and the wider cultural histories.
This component of the Project will also provide facilities for public
performances, lecture presentations and small conferences.
Gallery and Exhibition Space will serve as a platform for artists inspired
by the natural and cultural landscapes of the area and beyond,
while the Information Point will provide a conduit for information
on adventure tourism, cultural and outdoor pursuits in the region.
